Press and Publicity Officer

Homo Promos is the oldest LGBT+ theatre company in the UK which started in 1988 in response to Section 28. It currently has a small Arts Council grant to mount four performances of 1936: Fishing around London from 4 to 10 September 2022.

1936: Fishing is a 45-minute chamber opera involving four singers and three musicians. It is episode 7 of a 17-part epic cycle about LGBT+ life from 1900 to 2001. The music is by Robert Ely and the words by Peter Scott-Presland.

A paid Press and Publicity Officer is required:

  1. To research traditional media and send out press releases and other information about Homo Promos and the chamber opera 1936: Fishing, to music press, queer press, local and national listings, radio and television, and to arrange interviews and suggest/initiate features.
  2. To organise and deliver leaflets and posters to and around each of the venues in NW8, Soho, New Cross Gate, and Stoke Newington.
  3. In conjunction with Jack Campbell, our social media co-ordinator, to maximise our online presence.

The terms of employment are on a fixed contract with a £500 fee, to be undertaien during your own hours up to a maximum of 50 hours. Start immediately and end by 10 September 2022.
